- What is The Legal & Accounting Program for Music Professionals?
The Legal & Accounting Program for Music Professional is an in-depth 10-week, 50 hour program that combines formal instruction with hands-on learning, networking and mentoring. The program’s structured curriculum seeks to transform, inspire and educate music professionals on the foundations of entertainment law, accounting, and music registration. Experienced legal and accounting experts will lead program discussions, respectively. Participants work on specific deliverables such as a business model canvas, corporate structure set-up, accounting system set-up, music registration and business planning.
- Who is this program for?
This program is designed for music professionals in the St. Louis metro region that are ready to establish their business and take their career to the next level. This includes: musicians, artist managers, music publicists, music marketers, A&Rs, Music Bloggers/Journalist, Talent Buyers, Venue Managers, etc.
- When does the program start? When does it end? What day & times does it take place? Where will these sessions take place?
The program begins October 19, 2019 and ends December 21, 2019. The seminar and workshop classes take place on Saturdays starting at 10:30am. Workshops will take place at TechArtista in the Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis, MO.
- What if I can’t attend the Saturday classes and workshops?
If invited into the program and you cannot attend the workshops, you will be given the option to be a virtual student. Virtual students will get access to the online education platform were all presentations, workshop breakout activities and homework assignments will be uploaded.
- Can my team attend this program?
If you would like for your team to participate in the program, be sure to complete your application under the team classification. If accepted into the program, one team member can attend the workshops but each individual member will receive log-in credentials into the online educational portal and have access to the various program resources. (Teams are classified as a group of up to three (3) members)
- Program Eligibility
Eligibility is based on an applicant’s artist statement, reasons stated for applying for the program, career goals & objectives, and their plans on how to impact the music community in the St. Louis region.
- How much does the program cost?
The administration fee of the program starts at $299.99. Fees vary based on the participant type. Individuals are $299.99; Teams are $499.99; Virtual Students are $149.99. The administration fee goes towards covering the cost of programming, food & beverage, and other costs directly related to producing the program.
- Are the fees related to corporate structure registration and accounting system included in the fee?
The administration fee does not cover the fee to register your business with the state or city nor does it cover the cost for the accounting software you will decide to use. Please, budget accordingly for those costs. Those costs can average out between $100-$300 based on the corporate structure of your business.
- Can I do a payment plan?
Payment plans vary and can be arranged based on the type of program participant you will be. For individuals, the two options are (1) Payment in Full; (2) Five Payments of $59.99. For teams, the two options are (1) Payment in Full; (2) Five Payments of $99.99. For virtual students, the two options are (1) Payment in Full; (2) Five Payments of $29.99.
- What happens when you complete the program?
At the completion of the program, program participants will establish their company’s corporate structure & accounting system, have registered (copyright, publishing, BDS, etc.) at least one musical work and receive a three month coworking stipend at TechArtista.
